What is the Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP) designation?
The AMP is a national designation for mortgage professionals in Canada. The AMP designation sets a single national proficiency standard for Canada’s mortgage professionals.

Consumers will feel confident that they are dealing with a professional who has met a high standard of education and training, is bound by a strict code of ethics and has committed to continued education.

What do I do if I have not completed one of the CAAMP approved courses?
If you have not successfully completed one of the proficiency courses listed below above and you have less than five years of experience in the mortgage industry, you have not yet met the education requirement to become an AMP. You have two choices – you can sign up for and complete one of these approved courses, OR you can register for the CAAMP Challenge Exam.

What is the CAAMP AMP Challenge Exam?
The CAAMP AMP Challenge Exam is an exam designed to demonstrate your understanding of the fundamental knowledge necessary to be proficient in the mortgage industry. To pass the challenge exam you need to request CAAMP’s ‘Introduction to the Canadian Mortgage Industry’ text, the same text that is used in Seneca’s FSU 101 course. To prepare for the exam, review the text materials thoroughly on your own or with colleagues. When you feel you are ready, contact CAAMP to arrange an exam sitting.

The exam consists of 120 multiple choice questions. You have 3 hours to complete the exam.

What specialization categories exist and how do I qualify?

AMP originators are now able to identify themselves as Residential Mortgage Specialists, Commercial Mortgage Specialists or both. Specialists will be identified on the CAAMP website so consumers will be able to find an AMP based on their area of expertise.

AMP originators who qualify for either category will receive a personalized specialist certificate. If you wish to be recognized as a Specialist, complete and submit one or both of the declarations on the form below.

How do I report my continuing education (CE) credits?
Continuing education (CE) credits must be reported to CAAMP using the CE Reporting Form for Professional Development. Please note that this form must be downloaded, printed, and faxed into CAAMP. Please include all credit activities on the form, including those where an attendance sheet was signed. This form is the only record we require of your CE credits. We ask that you do not send proof of completion of your credits to CAAMP, but rather keep it on file for four years for auditing purposes. AMPs need to complete the CE reporting form and send it in to CAAMP once per AMP cycle, when all required credits have been completed.
